T-Mobile Dash – Free GPRS internet is over Error 502- Bad Request

As of 5-10-07 Tmobile has fixed the loop hole that provided free internet to millions of Tmobile Dash user and other Tmobile handheld.

Rebooting your Tmobile dash sometime will get it to work again. Just turn off the phone and tune back on, bam! free internet. It is only lightly that you will have to pay the basic $5.99 and in the full internet package with using the proxy trick.

Step by step with screenshot to setup Tmobile Dash internet with the $5.99 plan:

Add the $5.99 T-MobileWeb service to your current voice plan (it may take up to 72 hours to activate, but typically takes less than 24 hours).

Step: 1

Add the T-MobileWeb (T-Zones) Proxy Connection
Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections ->  Proxy -> Menu -> Add

Description: T-Zones Proxy
Connects from: WAP Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy (name : port): 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
User name:
Password:
Press Done
Configure the Existing Data Connection

Step 2.

Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections -> GPRS -> T-Mobile Data -> Menu -> Edit
Connects to: WAP Network
Access point: wap.voicestream.com
User name:
Password:
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP address:
Press Done.

Step 3.

Configure Pocket Internet Explorer
Start Menu -> Internet Explorer -> Menu -> Tools -> Options -> Connections
Uncheck “Automatically detect settings”.
Select Network: The Internet (Must be set to “The Internet” to work over WiFi. Try “WAP Network” if you’re having trouble over the
EDGE/GPRS connection)
Press Done.
Configure Messaging (follow these steps for POP or IMAP email accounts that have been manually setup)
Start Menu -> Messaging -> Highlight your email account -> Menu -> Settings -> Press Next twice
Select Network: WAP Network
Press Next three times then Finish.

Windows Mobile 5 T-MobileWeb (t-zones) Instructions:

1. Add the T-MobileWeb (T-Zones) Proxy Connection
Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections -> Proxy -> Menu -> Add
Description: T-Zones Proxy
Connects from: WAP Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy (name : port): 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
User name: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Press Done.

2. Configure the Existing Data Connection
Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections -> GPRS -> T-Mobile Data -> Menu -> Edit
Connects to: WAP Network
Access point: wap.voicestream.com
User name: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP address: <blank>
Press Done.

3. Configure Pocket Internet Explorer
Start Menu -> Internet Explorer -> Menu -> Tools -> Options -> Connections
Uncheck “Automatically detect settings”.
Select Network: The Internet (Must be set to “The Internet” to work over WiFi. Try “WAP Network” if you’re having trouble over the
EDGE/GPRS connection)
Press Done.

4. Configure Messaging (follow these steps for POP or IMAP email accounts that have been manually setup)
Start Menu -> Messaging -> Highlight your email account -> Menu -> Settings -> Press Next twice
Select Network: WAP Network
Press Next three times then Finish.

Windows Mobile 6 T-MobileWeb (t-zones) Instructions:
1. In Settings/Connections/GPRS/T-Mobile Data:
Tmobile Data Connects to: WAPNetwork
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com

2. Add a 2nd GPRS option:
T-Mobile Data 2
Connects to: Work
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com

3. Then create TWO Proxies:
Settings/Connections/Proxy

First Proxy:
Name:Tzones Proxy
Connects from: WAP Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP

Second Proxy:
Name Tzones Proxy 2 Connects from: Work
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP

4. In connections, click menu, then advance and set ALL connections to AUTOMATIC

5. To get the Exchange Server working:
(Exchange Server settings)
Options/Advanced
Connection: Internet

6. To get Pop mail accounts working:
(This will need to be done for each account you have)
Options/Account settings/Advanced Server Settings
Network Connection: Work
NOTE! The option to select which way to connect isn’t available until you finish creating the POP account (go back in and change to: Work)

7. To get IE working:
(In Pocket Internet Explorer) Menu/Tools/Options/Connections
Check “Automatically Detect Settings”
Select Network: WAP Network

Tmobile dash internet sharing problem?? I’ll show you the how to connect to the internet with your Tmobile Dash. You can technically use it with the $5.99 plan but you have to specify the proxy server in your browser on the computer.

Tmobile Dash Setting

1. Connect you Tmobile Dash phone to your PC or Laptop.

2. From you Tmobile Dash -> Start – Accessories -> Internet Sharing

3. Click on Connect

PC & Laptop (Internet Explorer or Firefox Setting)

1. Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> Lan Settings

2. Check Use a proxy server (Under the Proxy Server Setting)

3. Enter  Address: 216.155.165.50 Port: 8080

That it!!!!

Using your T-mobile Dash Tether for Internet Sharing with your laptop

It will work over both USB and Bluetooth.

Requirements

To use this you need two things:

1) A PC using Vista or Windows XP with Activesync 4.2 or greater (preferably with XP SP2)

2) A Windows Mobile 5.0 AKU 3.0 (or greater) or a Windows Mobile 6 device.

USB Setup

If you want to use this via USB (which also has the added benefit of charging your device at the same time) you simply have to do the following:

1. Find the Internet Sharing application and run it.

2. In the PC Connection list, select USB.

3. In the Network Connection list, select the name of connection that your device uses to connect to the Internet.
4. Press Connect

5. Plug in the USB cable between your device and the computer.

You will then see the device stating ‘Connected’ and in a few seconds your PC will be connected to the Internet.

Bluetooth Setup

You can also use Internet Sharing over Bluetooth.

1. FIrst pair your device with your laptop and create a partnership.

2. Then run the Internet Sharing program on your device.

3. Select Bluetooth PAN as the PC Connection.
4. From the Network Connection list, select the name of the connection that your device uses to connect to the Internet.
5. Press Connect.

6. On your computer, set up a Bluetooth Personal Area Network (PAN) with your device.
a. Click Start > Control Panel > Network Connections.
b. Under Personal Area Network, click the Bluetooth Network Connection icon.
c. Under Network Tasks, click View Bluetooth network devices.
d. In the Bluetooth Personal Area Network Devices dialog box, select your device, then click Connect.

This is such an easy way of getting Internet access from your laptop and removes the need to carry a data card or have another SIM in your laptop for data access.
