YouOS is an experiment in a new kind of computing platform

YouOS, a collaborative web operating system, saw its usage needs fluctuate on a daily basis. It quickly needed a new storage solution that could scale to serve as many as 10,000 user requests per second. That’s when it turned to Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3). Within hours of adopting Amazon S3, YouOS had a working prototype. The company now employs Amazon S3 to store file systems for more than 60,000 customers utilizing 12 GB of storage and 80 GB of bandwidth per month.

YouOS began as the vision of four San Francisco Bay Area developers December 2005. They sought to combine Web and traditional operating systems to form a shared virtual computer consolidating a user’s data, applications and communications so it all could  be accessed from anywhere at anytime.  Try a demo here
